Holiday rental cleaning checklist, room by room
Most bad reviews about cleanliness come from the same few forgotten spots. A written checklist that your cleaner follows every time fixes that.
Kitchen
- Empty and wipe the fridge; throw away anything guests left
- Run and empty the dishwasher; put everything back where the photos show it
- Clean hob, oven front, microwave inside, kettle and coffee machine (descale monthly)
- Wipe counters, cupboard fronts and handles; empty all bins and replace bags
Bathroom
- Clean shower, bath, toilet, sink and mirror; check drains for hair
- Fresh towels, bath mat and toilet roll (plus one spare)
- Refill soap and shower gel; check for mould on seals
Bedrooms
- Fresh bed linen; check mattress protectors and under the beds
- Empty wardrobes and drawers; enough hangers
- Dust bedside tables and lamps; test the lights
Living areas
- Vacuum and mop all floors, including under sofas
- Straighten cushions and throws; wipe the TV and remote
- Check windows and balcony; clean glass marks
Restock and final checks
- Coffee, tea, salt, oil, dishwasher tablets, bin bags, cleaning spray
- Wi-Fi works; heating and air conditioning off or at the set temperature
- Welcome book and signs in place; keys or code ready
- Report anything broken or missing to the host with a photo
